A Message from the PresidentIt is my pleasure to present to you the new version of The World Society for Breast Health. The World Society for Breast Health is a young society which is the brainchild of many committed individuals who consider breast cancer a global disease. The Society is dedicated to advancing breast health education for physicians and the public at the global level. This Society is inviting individual participation and individual membership. The strength of this Society will be based on the spirit of individual physicians across the globe who want to make a difference in the lives of people who are the victims of breast cancer. The ultimate goal is to empower groups of interested physicians in their own geographically diverse regions to advance the delivery of optimal breast health care. The philosophy of the Society is to provide opportunities for the young clinicians/scientists to actively participate in the governance of the Society and to learn how to effectively contribute to the advancement of science and patient care. The Society will take all the measures necessary to identify talented and committed individuals who can become future leaders. The World Society for Breast Health is moving towards these honorable goals and will soon become a strong player in fostering better breast health care across the world. In addition, The World Society for Breast Health will honor the tradition of association with other federations and organizations who share the same values and missions. It is clear that the issues surrounding breast cancer cannot be resolved without the effort of an international community. The realization of the differences in the incidence, presentation, diagnosis, and management of breast cancer in geographically diverse populations around the world may be the only key in finding the cause and the cure for this disease. The story of each patient must be heard through effective communication and collaboration within well-balanced societies and organizations. The World Society for Breast Health is planning to serve as one of these societies. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to consider joining this Society. The membership fee for individual membership is only $50.00 and for each federation/organization is $500.00. This membership fee entitles the member to participate in the society's scientific meeting at a reduced registration fee. The World Society for Breast Health is planning their next scientific meeting to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, October 18–23, 2010. Please mark you calendars and consider joining the Society.
